Welcome to Laughter Yoga Japan, Japan's foremost community of laughter yoga professionals.
What is Laughter Yoga?
An incredible stress-busting method, Laughter Yoga is based on the unique concept that anyone can "laugh for no reason." Developed by Dr. Madan Kataria of India in 1995, we do not rely on jokes, humor, or comedy to induce laughter. Instead, we combine gentle stretching and yogic breathing exercises with creative laughter exercises.
As our bodies do not know the difference between faked laughter and genuine laughter, we receive the same wonderful health benefits from both. We begin with simulated or faked laughter which, when done in a group with eye contact, very soon stimulates genuine smiles and contagious laughter.
